He had a few more losses before finally winning a singles match against Fahd Rakma. Throughout that year, he mostly competed in tag team matches at FCW. He later teamed up with Donny Marlow and participated in a 30-man ‘Grand Royal’ competition, but he got eliminated. However, he had a triple threat match against Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins and won, earning a chance to compete for the FCW Florida Heavyweight Championship. Unfortunately, he couldn’t win the title.

Things took a turn when he made his television debut on November 18, 2012, alongside Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. They formed a group called ‘The Shield’ and quickly gained popularity. They went on to win several six-man-tag-team matches in a row. At the ‘Extreme Rules event, Roman Reigns and Rollins defeated ‘Team Hell No’ and became the winners of the WWE Tag Team Championship.

  • In July 2010, Roman Rules began his wrestling journey by signing a contract with WWE. He was then sent to wrestle in the Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) region. On September 9, 2010, at the beginning of his career, he had his first memorable WWE match using the name Roman Leakee.
  • During his early days, Reigns faced Richie Steamship in his first singles match, but unfortunately, he lost. However, he didn’t give up and managed to win his most memorable match after a few more attempts.
  • In 2011, Reigns teamed up with Donny Marlow and challenged Calvin Raines and Big E Langston for the FCW Tag Team Championship. Unfortunately, they didn’t win the championship.
  • In 2012, Reigns had a significant moment when he pinned Leo Kruger, the FCW Heavyweight Champion at that time, during a tag-team match.   • When FCW was renamed WWE NXT, Reigns changed his ring name to Roman Rules. He made his NXT debut on October 31, where he defeated CJ Parker. He continued his winning streak by beating Chase Donovan and wrestled his final match in the division against Gavin Reids, which he won on the December 5 episode of NXT.

  • After The Shield disbanded, Reigns entered the title picture. He participated in the World Heavyweight Title Ladder Match at Money in the Bank but didn’t win. In the following pay-per-view, Battleground, Reigns competed in a fatal four-way match for the championship but didn’t come out as the winner. Reigns then began a feud with Randy Orton, leading to a match at Summerslam where Reigns emerged victorious.
  • Meanwhile, Dean Ambrose was feuding with Seth Rollins due to his betrayal, which resulted in Ambrose getting injured. Reigns stepped in and a match was set up between him and Rollins at Night of Champions. However, Reigns suffered an incarcerated hernia and had to undergo surgery, forcing him to be out of action indefinitely.
  • Reigns made his return at the TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs event, where he attacked Big Show and Seth Rollins to assist John Cena in winning. After the event, Reigns faced Big Show in multiple matches and won all of them.
  • In the 2015 Royal Rumble, Reigns entered at number 19 and emerged as the winner, earning a chance to headline Wrestlemania 31. To defend his opportunity, Reigns faced Daniel Bryan at Fastlane and successfully defeated him. However, during Reigns’ match against Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 31, Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and pinned Reigns to become the champion.
  • In April 2015, Reigns reignited his contest with Big Show, which led to a Last Man Standing match at Extreme Rules that Reigns won. At vengeance, Reigns shared in a fatal four-way match for the crown against Rollins but did not secure the palm.
  • He also contended in the Plutocrat in the Bank match but was attacked by Bray Wyatt, precluding him from winning. Reigns faced Wyatt at Battleground but could not secure a palm due to hindrance. They called themselves “The Dogs of Equity.” However, the group would often appear from the crowd to regularly beat up Troublemaker’s rivals and enemies like Ryback and Group Damnation No (Kane and Daniel Bryan).
  • This led to a tag-team match between The Safeguard and Troublemaker’s three enemies at the TLC pay-per-view: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs. It was the official debut match of the group, and The Safeguard easily won.
  • The Safeguard continued to target Troublemaker’s opponents, including attacking The Rock, who happens to be Roman Rules’ cousin. On the January 28, 2013 episode of Crude, it was revealed that CM Troublemaker and his manager Paul Heyman had been paying The Safeguard to work for them.
  • The trio ended their association with Troublemaker and started feuding with John Cena, Ryback, and Sheamus. They faced each other at the Elimination Chamber and The Safeguard emerged as the winners. In the following episode of Crude, The Safeguard had their first match on the show and defeated Ryback, Sheamus, and Chris Jericho.
  • To try and defeat The Safeguard, Sheamus formed an alliance with Randy Orton and Big Show and faced them at Wrestlemania 29. Once again, The Safeguard came out victorious. The Safeguard began attacking The Undertaker in the next episode of Crude but were stopped by Team Hell No.
  • This led to a six-man tag team match on the April 22, 2013 episode of Crude, which The Safeguard won. Their winning streak came to an end when they lost via disqualification in an elimination tag-team match against John Cena, Kane, and Daniel Bryan on the May 13, 2013 episode.
  • At the Extreme Rules pay-per-view, Reigns won his first WWE belt when he teamed up with Seth Rollins to win the WWE Tag Team Championship in a special tornado tag-team match. They won the rematch against Team Hell No on the May 27, 2013 episode of Crude. The duo successfully defended their titles against Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan at Payback, against The Usos at Money in the Bank, and against the Prime Time Players at Night of Champions.
  • In August, The Safeguard started working for Triple H and The Authority in a change of storyline. Reigns and Rollins lost their titles to Cody Rhodes and Goldust in a no disqualification match due to interference from Big Show, and they also lost the rematch against them.
  • At Survivor Series, Reigns was the last member standing for The Safeguard in a five-on-five elimination tag-team match, where he set a Survivor Series record by eliminating four opponents. In the Royal Rumble, Reigns entered at number 15 and set the record for the most eliminations with 12. He was eventually eliminated by Batista.
  • Just before WrestleMania XXX, The Safeguard attacked Jerry Lawler but later turned their attention to Kane. After defeating another wrestler named Samoa Joe at an event called Backlash, Reigns started a contest with Bobby Lashley. They had a match against each other at an event called Extreme Rules, and Lashley came out as the winner. latterly on, they had another match on a television show called RAW to determine who would get the chance to challenge Lesnar for the Universal Championship.

Reigns won that match and went on to face Lesnar at an event called Summer Slam 2019. Reigns defeated Lesnar and came the Universal Champion for the first time in his career. Following his palm over Lesnar, Reigns had battles with Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre, and Dolph Ziggler.
